I've read that the most difficult thing about starting a business is that you don't know what you're doing.  As ignorance is gradually replaced by experience, I have to say that has proven to be true.  Passion, drive, and "brute force ignorance" can take you a long way, and cover a multitude of mistakes, but thankfully that all gives way to something else.  We're not sure what.  We're still in the "brute force ignorance" stage...
